This Privacy Policy explains how Lutfur Ali, independent developer of EG-Docs Editor (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use:
- EG-Docs Editor desktop app for Windows (including Free, Trial, and Premium plans),
- Our website at https://www.egdocseditor.in (and any mirror domain that redirects to it),
- Social login integration in the app, including Google Sign-In.
By using EG-Docs Editor or contacting us, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
🔒
Short version: Your photos, documents, PDFs, and ID files are processed locally on your own PC. We do not upload or view your customer files. We only store the minimum account data needed to run sign-in, licensing, and support. We never sell your data.
1. Who we are (Data Controller)
EG-Docs Editor is developed and operated by Lutfur Ali, an independent software developer based in India.
For privacy requests and grievances under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, contact support.egdocs.editor@gmail.com with subject “Privacy Request”.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Account data (you provide)
- Name, email address, mobile number, password (passwords are stored as irreversible hashes, never in plain text) when you create an account, sign in, or reset a password.
- OTP verification records (email/mobile + timestamp + success/failure) for fraud prevention.
- Support messages you send us (email/WhatsApp content).
2.2 Social login data (Google Sign-In)
If you choose “Continue with Google” in EG-Docs Editor:
- From Google Sign-In: we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL plus a Google user ID / ID token to verify you.
- We use this data only to create / link your EG-Docs Editor account, verify your identity, and sign you in. We do not post to your social account and do not share this data with advertisers.
- You can disconnect social login at any time by contacting us (see Section 10). Disconnecting does not delete your EG-Docs Editor account unless you also request account deletion (see Data Deletion page).
2.3 Subscription & licensing data
- Plan status: Free / Trial / Premium, plan duration, expiry, task-usage counters (e.g., “5 tasks per day” on Free).
- Device/license binding: anonymised machine identifier to prevent license abuse.
- Payment confirmations: order ID, amount, date. We do not collect or store card numbers, UPI PINs, or bank credentials. Payments (if any) are processed by the payment provider / store you pay through. We have no autopay and require no credit card for the free trial.
2.4 App usage & device data (automatic)
- Sign-in events, feature usage counts, crash/error logs, app version, Windows version, language.
- Export log on your PC: the app keeps a local log of your exports for your own customer tracking. This log stays on your device unless you voluntarily send it to us for support.
2.5 Your files — processed locally, not collected
- Photos, document scans, PDFs, ID cards (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, ABHA, E-Shram, Ayushman, RC, APAAR), signatures, and print layouts you open in EG-Docs Editor are processed entirely on your Windows PC (including on-device AI background removal).
- We do not upload, view, or store your file contents on our servers. If you email us a file for troubleshooting, we use it only to resolve your ticket and delete it after resolution.
2.6 Website data
- Our site is a static informational site. We do not run accounts, comments, or newsletters on the website itself.
- Basic, privacy-friendly server logs (our website hosting) may record IP address, browser type, and pages visited for security and reliability. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
3. How we use your data
- Provide the service: create and maintain your account, sign you in (including via Google), enforce plan limits, remember settings, and enable licensing across launches.
- Operate & improve: fix bugs, prevent abuse (multiple free trials, license sharing), understand which features are used, and improve performance.
- Communicate: send OTPs, password-reset links, trial/premium expiry notices, and respond to support requests.
- Comply with law: meet obligations under Indian law (including DPDP Act, 2023).
We do not use your data for behavioural advertising and we do not sell personal data.
4. Legal bases (where applicable, e.g., GDPR/UK GDPR visitors)
- Contract: to provide the account and licensed app you requested.
- Consent: for social login (you choose to connect Google) and for support communications.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, and product improvement, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting, and lawful requests.
5. How we share data
We share personal data only as described below, and never sell it:
- Service providers (processors): email/OTP delivery, website hosting, download-mirror services (these mirrors only serve the public installer files, they do not receive your account data), and error diagnostics. They may process data only on our instructions.
- Google: when you use Google Sign-In, Google processes your login as its own controller per its privacy policy (Google Privacy Policy). We receive only the fields listed in Section 2.2.
- Legal & safety: if required by law, court order, or to protect users and the public against fraud, abuse, or harm.
- Business continuity: in the unlikely event of a merger or asset transfer, users will be notified and data remains subject to this policy.
6. Data retention
- Account data: kept while your account is active. If inactive for 24 months with no login, we may delete or anonymise it after notice.
- Google tokens: access/refresh tokens are kept only while social login is linked; revoked promptly on unlink or account deletion.
- Logs: security and error logs kept up to 12 months, then aggregated or deleted.
- Support tickets: kept up to 24 months after closure.
- Legal holds: invoices and legally required records may be kept longer as required by Indian law.
- Upon a verified deletion request, we delete or anonymise personal data within 7 working days (see Data Deletion Instructions), except data we must retain by law.
7. Security
- Passwords stored as irreversible hashes (never in plain text); OTPs time-limited and rate-limited.
- Encryption in transit; access controls and least-privilege access for backend systems.
- No method is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password and keep your PC and Windows updated.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, update, export, restrict, object to, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent (e.g., unlink social login).
- In-app: view/update profile name and mobile where editable in Settings/Profile.
- By email: send your request from your registered email to support.egdocs.editor@gmail.com with subject “Privacy Request — [Access/Correction/Deletion]”. Include your registered email/mobile so we can verify you.
- We respond within 7 working days. We may ask for proof of account ownership to prevent unauthorised disclosure.
- Indian users may also raise grievances per the DPDP Act, 2023 with us first, then with the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.
9. Children’s privacy
EG-Docs Editor is intended for adults operating print/xerox shops and general users aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Cookies & tracking
- Website: no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The site may use strictly necessary, privacy-respecting hosting/CDN functions.
- Desktop app: no third-party advertising software. The app stores preferences locally (window size, paper size, quality) on your PC.
- Embedded YouTube tutorials on our homepage are served by YouTube/Google and subject to Google’s privacy policy. Playing them may set YouTube cookies.
11. International transfers
Our primary operations and data storage are in India. Social login provider (Google) and content-delivery/download services may process data outside India. Where transferred, we rely on provider safeguards and process only the minimum necessary data.
12. Third-party links
Our site/app link to third parties (YouTube tutorials, Instagram, X, Facebook page, WhatsApp, MEGA/MediaFire mirrors, Epson Photo+). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Review them before interacting.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product or legal changes. Material changes will be announced via the website and/or in-app notice with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
