EG-Docs Editor uses the powerful pro-grade birefnet-portrait (flyaway hair detail) to lightweight silueta for low-end PCs AI model with alpha matting to produce professional-grade cutouts with soft, natural-looking hair edges.
Import a photo or drag it onto the workspace. The photo opens in the Photo Tab with the full editing pipeline.
In the Background panel (Alt+B), click the Remove Background button. The AI processes the image on a background thread with a loading overlay.
Use the Sensitivity slider (1–100) to adjust the removal threshold. Higher values remove more; lower values keep more. Changes are instant because the cutout is cached.
Pick from preset swatches (White, Light Gray, Blue, Red, Black) or click the custom color picker to choose any color. Color changes are instant — no re-processing needed.
Tip: If the AI model is unavailable (e.g., on low-end systems), the app falls back to OpenCV GrabCut with face detection — still produces great results.
The interactive crop tool supports rectangular cropping, rotation, aspect ratio presets, and custom sizes.
Press C on the keyboard or click the Crop button in the toolbar. A draggable rectangle with 8 resize handles appears on the canvas.
Use the presets: Passport (35x45mm), Stamp (20x25mm), 3.5x5in, 4x6in, 5x7in, or ratios like Square (1:1), Portrait (3:4), Widescreen (16:9). For custom sizes, set W/H spinboxes with mm/cm/in/px units.
Press Enter or click the Apply button. The canvas shows the cropped result. Press Esc to cancel.
Drag the green rotation knob above the crop box to tilt the crop. When you Apply, the image is straightened and cropped in one step. The aspect lock is preserved even during rotation.
The Auto Select button in the Crop panel attempts to find the best automatic crop — either the bounding box of opaque pixels (after background removal) or the largest contrasting region in the image.
Click an area to select a contiguous region of similar color. Adjust the Tolerance slider (1–150) to control how much variation is included. Hold Shift and click or drag to add to the existing selection.
Drag a rectangle to select a region. Hold Shift to add to the selection. Use arrow keys to nudge the selection by 1px (10px with Shift).

All adjustments work non-destructively on the preview and are applied at full resolution on save/print.
Overlay additional images on top of your photo:
In the Layers panel (Alt+L), click Import as Layer and select an image. It appears as a movable overlay on the canvas.
Drag the layer body to reposition. Drag corner handles to resize (hold Shift to preserve aspect ratio). Drag the rotation knob to rotate (Shift snaps to 15° steps).
Set opacity (0–100%), border width and color. Per-layer adjustment controls let you tweak brightness, contrast, and more for each layer independently.
Click Apply to flatten the layer into the image. Click Close to keep it editable. All layer operations support undo/redo.
Tip: Hold Alt and drag a layer to duplicate it — a quick way to create multiple copies.

The Combine on Page mode (accessible from the Photos tab) lets you place multiple different photos with individual copy counts, sizes, and adjustments on a single page. Each photo can have its own scale, stroke, brightness, contrast, and more.
